From coast to coast and across the world people seem to be intrigued with the music that comes out of the Lone Star State. For years people have been entertained with many great singers in all genres of music that hailed from the great state of Texas. Native Houstonian Liz Talley is no exception. When she sings, it’s pure Texas delight! This gal’s music is a breath of fresh air from the sounds of today’s radio. She takes you back to the days of the Texas Dancehall with twin fiddles and a steel guitar. “That’s exactly what I grew up listening to” says Liz “People took their kids to dances and Sunday gatherings. I learned to dance standing on my daddy’s feet to that honkytonk music, always loved that sound.”

Liz Talley’s debut CD “Road to You” created quite a stir in the music scene. The 1st single “Texas in Your Swing” penned by Liz and country legend Leona Williams opened many doors for the petite Texan. “Radio just went crazy over it and before I knew it, the song was getting airplay everywhere, even landing on Willies Place/XM Radio. I think people were excited to hear something different” Talley says. The song was nominated for several awards and Liz won “Western Swing-Female Vocalist” at the Academy of Western Artists Awards. The song was also featured in a commercial for Gabbys Barbeque. Another highlight on the CD was a duet with Billy Yates “It’s Time to Cross That Bridge” which was nominated for several awards and is a favorite among the fans.

Following the footsteps of country legends Johnny Bush and Jack Green, Liz started playing drums at the age of 14. Liz recalls, “There were dancehalls everywhere in town with live music 7 days a week. My parents had to take me to the clubs because I was underage. I was making a lot of money back then, bought a car and was putting myself through college.” It wasn’t until the bands started getting requests for girl songs that she started singing. “I was a very quiet kid, severe stagefright! I was perfectly content blending in with the band” laughs Liz “but people started requesting Tanya Tucker, Patsy Cline, so I had to start singing!” That “Little Drummer Girl from Texas” has played drums for Tommy Cash, Wanda Jackson, Tony Booth, Frenchie Burke and most recently Barbara Fairchild. She’s opened shows for Mel Tillis, Eddie Raven and Gene Watson.

Liz Talley has released a brand new CD “More Than Satisfied” and it’s getting a lot of attention. It’s a continuation of that traditional country sound with everything from Western Swing to heart wrenching ballads, including a remake of Asleep at the Wheel’s “Bump Bounce Boogie” and a bouncy tongue-in-cheek tune “ Johnny’s Getting Out of Jail BBQ!” In choosing material for the new CD Liz says she went to songwriters with a similar style to hers. She comments “I listen to a lot of songs, it has to hit a nerve or an emotion, it has to talk to me in the 1st few lines or it goes in the “no” pile. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad song, it may not be for me. I like all kinds of music, but I record what fits me as a country singer.” Listeners can expect pure country music, honkytonk through and through with some great Texas shuffles! Songwriting credits include Becky Hobbs, Leona Williams, Melba Montgomery, Bob Mc Dill, Billy Yates. This Texas gal is the real deal and is on her way to carving a name for herself in country music!
